A vast historic castle estate on the high ridge north-east of Radda, with cellars, gardens and a wine shop.

Our verdict

Nine hundred hectares under one owner, the Zonin family, with a hundred and fifty planted to vine around a medieval hilltop hamlet. This is the big, professional end of the Radda wineries: two tours a day, a tasting for ten to fifteen euros, and a Vin Santo aged eight years in small barrels worth asking for by name. Go for the organised version of a Chianti visit, not the intimate one.
