An estate once tied to Michelangelo's family, famous for commissioning an artist label each vintage.

Our verdict

Michelangelo owned this estate in the sixteenth century and wrote to his nephew that he would rather have two casks of its wine than eight shirts — a line the current owners, the Femfert family since 1981, have built an entire identity around. Each vintage gets a different artist's label, a project running since 1981 with names like Yoko Ono and Dario Fo. Worth the detour off the main road specifically for the label collection on display, not just the tasting.
