Winery · Greve in Chianti
Vignamaggio

A storied villa-estate wrapped in formal gardens, long linked to Mona Lisa lore. Wine and olive-oil tastings, garden visits and agriturismo stays.
Our verdict
Chianti's oldest continuously producing estate — making wine since 1404. The Mona Lisa connection is folklore, not documented fact; the villa's more reliable claim to fame is as Kenneth Branagh's filming location for Much Ado About Nothing (1993). Go for the four-hundred-hectare estate of gardens, orchards and forest as much as the tasting — only sixty-two hectares of it are vines.
